Day 1 of Zoo School!

Oh my goodness what a day!  We had a wonderful day learning about the Mountain Bongos.  The antelope like animal lives in Kenya and is critically endangered with fewer than 100 left in the wild.  We were able to skype with Donna Sheppard (of the Calgary Zoo) and Perter Munene live from  Kenya to learn about the Bongo.   Ask  you child who it was who decided that they needed to be protected.

After drawing the sequence of events from the Bongo story we ate lunch and then out to explore the Calgary Zoo and study our own animal.

The pandas were incredibly playful and put on a great show, the hippos had their teeth brushed and the gorillas gave the group quite a scare by pounding on the glass.

Thank you volunteers for coming along with us!
