Whew we've been busy in room #3! The final countdown for the Nuts Musical is on. I tried to get a picture of every child at the dress rehearsal on Friday, I will try to get some more on Wednesday.
In literacy we've been working hard on completing the good copy of our Mountain Bongo Stories. We look forward to sharing these with you at interviews. Also in Language Arts we've been focusing on writing about our Moms and Dads. This is for a surprise writing activity that we are thrilled about. This writing project will be hanging up in the hallway so that you can see it between the musical and interviews in 2 weeks. The amount of independent writing that each child is accomplishing is truly remarkable.
In Math we are continuing to focus on adding and subtracting strategies such as doubles, doubles + or - 1 and 2, numbers that add to 10 and fact families. A fact family is 7+3=10, 3+7=10, 10-7=3,
and 10-3=7. The grade 2s all completed a problem solving story using a program called "pages" on the lap tops, these are all hanging up in the hallway.
We have completed out Hot and Cold Unit in Science, thank you for returning the signed tests. Next week we will be beginning our unit on Boats and Buoyancy.
In Social Studies we are learning about the people, natural resources and waterways in Meteghan, Iqaluit, and Saskatoon.
In Gym we are working on floor hockey and dance with Pirrie and Michelle from dance strong.
******On Tuesday March 19th our class will be hosting the assembly. We will be preforming the Mountain Bongo story. We would love to have as many parents as possible. Every child has a part in the play. I have scripts home with the narrators, George and Mr.Peter. If your child has a script in their agenda please have them work on the words.
As always please email me or come in if you have any questions or concerns. I do try to stop parents in the hall but I know it's not always convenient.
