Nov. 20th 2017

This morning our class walked into a very festive classroom.  A HUGE thank you to Eric Chao (Lauren's Dad) and Lauren for coming in on Friday's PD day to get our classroom into the holiday spirit.  The kids were also pretty excited to put up a small Christmas tree in our reading corner....now we have to see how many times it get's knocked over.

During our 7 habits assembly we learned about taking action and not being a silent bystander when we see bullying happen.  It's so true that often we don't know how to stand up for our friends.  Blu received his "Be Proactive" pencil for being on the ball and coming ready to learn each day, way to go Blu.

The rest of the day;
-wrote about rights and responsibilities
-went to music (with the whole school)!
-worked on a number of the day (even or odd, number word, 10 +, 10 -, representing the number with money, 10s and 1s, expanding, counting forwards and backwards by 1s and 10s beginning with that number)
-completed a Science experiment where we used water as a filter to create a rainbow.

Spelling Words are;
-rainbow
-filter
-some
-come
-home
-fun
-funny
-run
-running
-ran
-us
-use

********  We are looking for students who can say "Merry Christmas" in another language and that have the traditional dress (outfit)  from that country.  Students will be invited to wear their traditional costume to the Christmas concert and say "Merry Christmas" in that language.  For example Alex is going to say Merry Christmas in Greek and wear a traditional Greek costume.  If you speak another language at home and are interested in having your child present at the Christmas concert please let me know ASAP (this week).

Blog Question-  How can you make a rainbow?  How can you separate the color black into other colors?

  1. You made a mistake! In the word ‘running’, you forgot the extra ‘n’! To make a rainbow you take a big cup and put water half way in it and put it on paper in a sunny spot. You have to wait for the sunshine to go through the water and onto the paper you will see red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. That’s a rainbow! To separate black into the other colours, you take a paper and put a tiny black dot in the middle of it until it rips through the paper. Then you put a time drop of water on it and then you will see red, orange, blue, violet and indigo coming out. Then wait a while longer, and green and yellow will shoot out. And that’s how you separate black. From Blu
