WOW, I can't thank each and every family for all of your efforts to be here at the school today! The students have worked so hard to learn and write about each of their grandparents. I have learned so much about each of your families from both the Grandparent writing and artifact writing.
Deb as always you have blown me away with your organizational and party planning abilities. I can't thank you enough!
Question of the day- What did you learn about one of your Grandparents that you didn't already know? What did you love about today (you CAN'T say the cookies)!
Pictures below are from running club, Music Monday and today.

ReplyDeleteReading my story to my yiayia
Dear Alex, your Yia Yia has lead an incredible and inspiring life. She became an orphan at such a young age but showed determination and resilience. She is a wonderful example for us all!

I learned that my Papa can ride a pig. That is the most wildest thing!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite part of the day was singing for my Gramma and Papa the Army Ants song.
From Blu
PS. Autumn here. My parents had the BEST time! Thankyou for sharing such a wonderful and memorable day with them. They are very proud of the school Vonya and Blu attend. My folks could not say enough... how wonderful the school staff treated them, how cute and respectful the children were, how fantastic the music teacher was with her students, how loving and friendly Blu’s Ms. Helsen was to talk too, and how amazing the tea party was presented. They were honoured to be included, and will keep the day in their memories for years to come. Blu is a special boy to them, as he is the only grandson (thus far). I am very grateful that Blu and his grandparents had such a wonderful day :). Thankyou, Earl Grey, and all of you who contributed to making the day happy :). Sincerely, Autumn Hanson
Dear Blu and Autumn,
DeleteI can't tell you both how much I enjoyed meeting the Westgates! I think we've got the strap story straight. Blu's Papa was blamed for throwing an apple at the bus driver (but it was a much bigger child at the back of the bus) AND he was accused of swearing while up in a tree. He clarified he WAS in the tree but WASN'T the one swearing. Such a funny story to hear. Bly I hope your Papa realizes that schools have changed over the decades....teachers now have eyes in the backs of their heads so we can really see what going on!
I still can't believe they drove all the way down from Llyodminster just for the 90 minutes just to turn around and drive back. Such love and dedication they have for Blu and Vonya.
Thank you for all of the kind words, it really was a pleasure. Perhaps one of my most memorable teaching moments.
Love,
Mrs.Helsen
Our biggest pleasure! Xo and biggest, BIGGEST Thankyou :)
ReplyDeleteBTW... you just brought enlightenment to my Dad’s strap stories! Thankyou! He has not told me that. Perhaps, as his diligent-ever daughter, he didn’t feel necessary to go deep. I wish I knew those details! Poor, cute Dad! That’s funny! And, endearing :). I’m glad Blu heard those stories, as he takes after his Papa in so many ways.
Thanks again for the beautiful day; it will most likely be the most memorable day of the year for Blu, Papa , and Gramma :)
Love,
Autumn
I learned that my poppys house did not have electricity until he was 14. He did not have a tv when he was growing up. Leone
ReplyDeleteI learned that my Grammy had a blood condition so she could not play sports so she figure skated instead. Helene
ReplyDeleteI loved getting to show my grandmas my artwork, show them where I spend time all day and spending the day with them and just showing them stuff.
