Pumpkin Crunch Cake and Thanksgiving writing



HAPPY THANKSGIVING

This week at school;
-we worked all week long to write both serious and funny things that we are thankful for on Thanksgiving
-worked on writing our own problem solving stories to match pictures (grade 2)
-built paper robots using hundreds and frames (grade 3)
-worked on problem of the day activities in our Math books
-wrote out how to make pumpkin crunch cake
-built 3 types of bridges to see which was the strongest
-learned about forest fire, their causes and effects (to go with our Wild Robot novel study)
-talked about ways to peacefully resolve conflict

**** Field trip forms were sent home for the Library Tour and Downtown Tour
****Information on the playground update fundraising was sent home with the oldest child in the family.

Pumpkin Crunch Cake

          

Ingredients:
·       1 box yellow cake mix
·       1 can (15 oz) pumpkin puree
·       1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
·       3 large eggs
·       1 1/2 cups sugar
·       1 tsp. cinnamon
·       1/2 tsp. salt
·       1 1/2 cups chopped pecans (the original recipe called for 1/2 cup)
·       1 cup butter, melted
Heat oven to 350 degrees F.  Grease bottom of 9 x 13″ pan.  Mix pumpkin, milk, eggs, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.  Pour mixture into greased pan.  Sprinkle dry cake mix over pumpkin mixture and top with pecans.  Drizzle melted butter over pecans.  Bake 50-55 minutes.
