Good Afternoon,

It feels like forever since I've been in class with the kids.  I was at a workshop on writing last Thursday and one on Literacy yesterday and am excited to try out new ideas in class.

Today we;
-tried we completed an "exit slip" after our independent writing.  We wrote about the book or text we just read about
-participated in a small sharing circle.  This time is meant to focus on our listening skills and really think about what the reader is sharing.  We can then respond, react or as questions.
-brainstormed verbs about dogs
-wrote our first "strong verb" poem of the year
-went to music
-discussed the difference between a "right" and a "responsibility"
-discussed the difference between a "need" and "want"
-finally....our book orders came in!  There are 2 students who are waiting on a couple more books.

Good evening families,

Today Miss. Raymond taught her first LA, Health lesson using the "How to Fill a Bucket Book".  Student were asked of ways to fill their Mom or Dads buckets.  YOU were chosen as the person to write for because your children love you and find it easy to think up ways to fill your buckets.

In Math we looked at the number 29 and tried representing many different ways.  We; spelled it, found it, wrote it in a sentence and built it using tallies, pictures, coins, and 10 frame blocks.

We learned how to separate the color black into the colors that make black.  We were able to do this using a Mr.Sketch and a coffee filter.

Remembrance Day is quickly approaching, today we read 1 1/2 non-fiction books and completed some Poppy Art Work.

Tell me something about the story "Angel Girl"  and what colors are used to make up the color black.
