Gymnastics and Cow Magnets

We kicked off the week with our Leader in Me assembly, it's been a long while since we had one. Ava received her Begin with the End in Mind pencil for trying to remember to bring her lunch containers home before they get moldy. Holt received his Be Proactive pencil for always completing his work before moving on to something new.

In Science we learned about magnets in the real world.  We looked at pictures of electric can openers, went on a walk to the staffroom to see how fridge doors stay closed with the help of magnets and watched a short clip about cow magnets.  Parker recognized that the cruise ship he was on uses magnets to keep the cupboards and drawers from swaying open and closed when the ship is rocking.

SPECIAL QUESTION????

WHAT DOES A COW MAGNET DO?  WHY DO FARMERS USE COW MAGNETS?

In Math were are reviewing odd and even numbers, the days of the week, months of the year and seasons.  We are still continuing to look at place value and order numbers in ascending and descending order.

In Gym we began gymnastics, please wear comfortable clothing this week. We will try to snowshoe next week when the weather permits us to do so.

  4. A cow magnet is a little straight thing you shoot into the cow's first stomach. The farmers use it so the cow's don't die cuz whatever the cow eats that it shouldn't will stick to the magnet and not go through the rest of the cow body, and then the cow can still make milk.
