Social Studies, Science and Skating

NOTE - Report cards go home this Friday!!!!
1s are below grade level (requires support)
2s are at grade level (satisfactory)
3s are at great level (very good understanding)
4s are at and above grade level (excellent understanding)

All students have shown great progress.  Please take the time to go over your child's report card.  It is a celebration of their learning.  The report card will also high lite areas that your child can work on.

Skating today - students have already demonstrated progress!  No one got hurt, everyone had fun and we had great weather to do it in!

Math/Science - reading a thermometer continues to be a HUGE challenge for us.  We are learning to how to look for the "0" and then see if the mercury is above or below it.  If you have time in the morning to talk about the temperature is would really help with your child's understanding.

Social Studies- We have begun learning about the 3 Canadian Communities that will be the focus for the rest of the school year.  Students were shocked to see pictures of houses in Iqaluit on stilts.

Questions:

Why are many of the houses in Iqaluit on stilts?
What does Never, Eat, Shredded, Wheat stand for?
Is Canada in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere?
