Terry Fox, Growing Patterns, Run Club and Courtyard

Hello!

Congratulations to all of the runner who ran their first 3km run today!  It was pretty warm but we al finished it with a smile on our faces.

During the morning we read, watched and learned about Terry Fox.  We learned that he was full or determination and never wanted to give up.  Although Terry Fox passed away his legacy and dream still live on.

During the afternoon we worked on looking at a pattern and determining how it was growing.  We extended the patterns and wrote down the pattern rule.

During our gym time we were in the courtyard planting strawberries that will hopefully grow next summer.  The kids love looking for their bricks and bricks with their friends names on them.

  1. Terry Fox ran a marathon. He started off in Newfoundland and ended in Thunder Bay. People across Canada watched him RUN and stopped their jobs to watch him. Terry Fox was very special and strong because he had bone cancer and still ran a marathon for all the kids who had cancer younger than him so he could put a stop to cancer. Cancer is really bad and really painful and sad. Terry's best friend drove a car with Terry's brother to help him if he needed help and Terry went for a run in the morning, in the afternoon he took a break for a little bit, then at night he ran a tiny bit more then he sleeped in the van. Terry felt sad because he thought he made a promise to the whole part of Canada for people to watch him and give him toonies or more to help cure cancer. He did help the doctors with learning how to fix cancer because the doctors back then when Terry Fox was alive had no idea that cancer spreader up through the body. Thankyou Terry Fox for running almost across Canada, and inspiring every school to run for him and donating money to hospitals for cancer research.

  2. Hi goal was to raise 10 million dollars but instead he raised 24 million dollars. People still raise money every year for cancer research. Angelo

  3. I learned that Terry Fox got sick again while doing his run. When they cut off his leg the first time he was sick they did not get all the cancer. He had to stop his run and he flew on a jet back to Vancouver. He died without finishing the run. Parker
