Community Projects

Happy Monday,

We are just about half way through grade 2.  I talked to the class about "pulling up their socks" by printing more neatly, putting in more EFFORT, LISTENING, and checking for spelling mistakes.

Today we;
-hosted the 7 habits assembly and learned about good and bad listening
-completed our Gratitude books
-completed a Structure and Style called "Winter"
-did double digit addition, completed number lines that increased and decreased by 10s and looked at 10 more, 20 more, 10 less, 20 less, 1 more, 1 less, 2 more and 2 less.  This is still VERY hard for many children.  ie.  if the given number is 56, 10 more would be 66, 20 more would be 76 etc.
-went to Music
-explored new stations in gymnastics
-worked on writing about and answering questions about our community project.

Spelling words-

boat
coat
float
long
along
beling
paw
wall
tall
fawn
effort
listen

Reminders-
-no school this Friday
-skating from 12:30-1:45 next Mon-Thurs.  I will need 4 volunteers per day (right now I have 1 per day).

Question of the day-
Tell me about your community building.  What is it? Who would use it?  Why is it important?

  1. It is a golf course. My dad and people who like to golf would use it. It is important because it keeps people active and have fun with their friends. Angelo

  2. A baseball diamond. Baseball players, the fans, umpires, kids, families and friends would use it. Why is it important? So baseball players have a job to make money. Also for the crowd because they want to see action. And because it provides exercise and fun and your 10000 Fitbit steps. From Blu
