It is report card writing time and I have been reassessing student reading levels. If your child is a level J or lower I am asking that you please read with them each night for about 15 minutes. If you are unable to do so please make use of the Raz-Kids site. Anything lower than a J at this point in the year is a border line 1. I am completing a 2nd winter assessment for any of the students that are at a J or K to see if they are ready to move up.
In Math today we worked on a series of questions based on story. I think it was one of the best Math classes this year, the kids all worked together in groups and there was almost no arguing!
In Social Studies we brainstormed what a "good community" would have. Once again one of the best classes we've had the year, every single child had multiple responses. Some of the responses were drop in center, car wash, vet, public bathrooms, gas stations, food bank, golf course, airport, movie theatre, playground, sidewalks, grocery stores, police/K9 unit and hospital.
*******We are going to change things a bit for our Community Unit. It's nearly impossible to have every child build a house plus 1 or 2 other structures during class time with only 1 adult to support the students. I am asking (really pleading and begging) that you help your child build a home at home so that we can focus on the other buildings at school. One student has expressed that he really wants to build a golf course at home and then build his house at school. If your child has something special they want to build at home they could do that and then create their house here at the school. Homes could be built using milk cartons, shoe boxes, straws, popsicle sticks etc.

World Pro Goal so I can get better at goalie and have fun with my coach named Marcus and sometimes coach Tyler Love.
Safeway because I can buy my mom flowers there and get cookie dough.
