This morning we began with a focussed writing session called "Structure and Style". It is a writing program that focusses on sentence structure, word choice, conventions and intonation when reading aloud. The kids are getting pretty good at sentence writing. It's exciting for me to see their growth!
In the afternoon we paraded around the school and then came back to the class to begin the Halloween activities. Our class was very mellow, on task and respectful of each others costumes.
A HUGE thank you to the Stacey, Amy, Lisa, Karla, Kristie, and Ryhs's Grandma for spending the afternoon with us. Also thank you to all those parents who sent in snacks and treats for the class to share.
Enjoy the pictures!

Birthdays and Yoga
October is a busy month for birthdays in our class! Happy Birthday to Rhys, Blu and Brett! I will get a picture of Rhys on Monday (sorry Rhys).
This week we did yoga for 2 of our gym classes. The first day was a Star Wars yoga and the second day was a Frozen yoga. Some of the class was a bit hesitant at first but within a few minutes all of the kids were participating and enjoying the session.
Have a wonderful weekend! I can't wait to see all of your costumes Monday afternoon.

Heritage Park
We had a great day at Heritage Park. Students were treated to bannock, good weather and lots of new information. I know my group really liked playing with the old fashion toys.
I'm going to keep this very short but please enjoy the pictures.
Thank you to the following parents for volunteering;
-Stacey (Alex's Mom)
-Nathan (Eloise's Dad)
-Wei (David's Mom)
-Leah (Brett's Mom)
-Naomi (Helene and Leonie's Mom)
SPECIAL SNEAKY QUESTION: WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF HERITAGE PARK?

Pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins! Thank you for sending in your pumpkins today we were only missing a couple. An special thank you to Lauren who brought an extra one in and was able to share
with a friend.
Today we completed our Halloween silhouettes. We worked to create a background with warm colors or cools colors. Next we cut out black pieces of paper to create a beautiful and spooky silhouette.
This afternoon (after Star Wars Yoga) we focused on our pumpkins. Students worked in pairs to count the lines on their pumpkin, measure how many blocks high it was, measure the distance around and finally take out the seeds and count them. We all made it as far as counting the seeds, we will complete that task tomorrow.
If you haven't sent your pumpkin in yet please do so first thing tomorrow morning.
Thursday is our field trip to Heritage Park. Please dress extra warm (hats, warm jackets and mittens) as part of the day will be spent outside.
Special Question!
How did you measure around the pumpkin???? Please comment below.
